so i have been watching the above series for a little while!, i find it weirdly entertaining, you JUST end up hating that woman.. but yea i like the show!. and the characters that need web therapy for some reason!.. its good as it only lasts 6 mins the show, some are nearly 4 mins long!. and its just really well done i think!.
bah thats all.. just having my lunch at the moment!! chilling out!.
back to working on stuff i go!.
Since last week i have had a pretty tame time!, its been a lot of time spent, online, with emailing people, finding out about trying to get some funding, and talking with people, writing in forums about the artworks etc..
I am not really into spending as much time as i am having to online, but its the way things have to be, as i have a lot of information about things i have to find out planning, letting people know that the amsterdam print is actually for sale, and just a lot of admin type things!.
I would like to get a lot more of my prints printed, and lots of other things, but i will need some funding to be able to do them, i will contribute with the money i am making from selling the limited prints i can do, i only have the find to print 14 amsterdam maps at a time.
if i could get any sponsors that would be amazing! i would love to have a solo show somewhere that could be GREAT!. also i would like to try and find a place to even do a residency somewhere, im sure that would be cool!.
im working on the paris map at this current time! not all that much in the last week due to doing things i have stated!… i did actually get out last night with a friend, and go to the cinema, so that was great! especially after being indoors for the whole day!.
gee its crazy cold at the moment, but its ok… i will have some good news i can state at the weekend but not until then! so thats cool!.. next week should be a fun week for the same reason!.
but anyways now im going to spend the rest of the night on my paris map, SOO much left to do!..but good amount of general layout is done!.
wahooooooo… yup working hard, its needed,, had some pay offs thus far so thats good!. i like it when i have worked hard towards something and start seeing the rewards…….its like the knitting.. currently just on a black section thats going slow, but its fun and im looking forward to how nice it will be to wear a scarf i have actually made!!!!

its been a long time in the works!. been a lot of time spent looking for a printers capable of printing a linocut to that size! and that would be able to print an edition off for me!. i’m printing in small installments, and all is going well on that front!.

Gave a talk at West Thames college yesterday had fun! great talking to the students! and seeing a friend from when i did work experience!.

The word i liked most, and have been given to use for my piece is “Dehisce” which means:
verb [ intrans. ] technical(of a pod or seed vessel, or of a cut or wound) gape or burst open, To rupture or break open, as a surgical wound. :
“eg after the anther lobes dehisce, the pollen is set free.”

i got soaking wet going into town at 8:55am this morning AHHH.. i had an appointment i had to keep, was not in there long so i got home at 945.. but crazy soaking wet!!..
spent a lot of the day working on my map of Paris! i saw the the ISTD members forum, that a exhibition was going to be happening in February, called “The Art of Lost Words”
They were looking for typography people to take part, so i have offered to do it, and will be joining in, i got to choose 3 words of a list of 24, ,here is what information there is about the exhibition.
“Inspired by an initiative to save 24 obscure words
in the Collins dictionary.
What happens to forgotten words - perfectly good English chucked in language’s landfill while the world sweeps on in pursuit of new phrases? For the space of one weekend they’ll be exhumed, recycled into objects of beauty and sold off in a disappearing exhibition.
We’re inviting designers, writers and artists to choose from a set of the dictionary’s most intriguing but forgotten words and produce a work inspired by their choice. A publication of essays and submitted work with contributors’ biographies will accompany the exhibition.
All proceeds will go towards the National Literacy Trust, helping to enable disadvantaged children to choose and keep free books.”

I have had an interesting few days!, annoyingly i just wrote this post, then it errored and so i lost it.. SO very annoying when that happends!! AHH… anyways:

On thursday i did some printmaking, and printed on Wood! great!!, as i got to see what this looked like as i had never done it before!. i did do all the 5 new designs, but decided to just show the two i liked most!:

Trip To Falmouth,
Sitting on the train currently on the way home from my Trip To Falmouth, had a great eventful time as i knew i would!!! so great seeing people had not seen in a while!. so here is what happened,,,, with pictures!!!
i had a reasonably bad start to the trip, ended up getting the 10:30am train to falmouth, but man it was not a good trip! because the south west of England had had a little bit of bad weather, there was major flooding, which stopped the trains from running all the way from Reading to Falmouth, so i ended up having to get the road bus service they laid on, which was not fun at all lucky for me i am not carrying as much stuff as to what i am taking home!! geesh that would have been a right annoyance for sure!,
so after this journey of 8 hours, of which normally takes 4:40 i was tired and not even sure of where toms house was, as i was staying with him a while. I managed to go to mike and anns, Glyn answered the door, and was surprised to see me and my “big hair”… i said my hello’s to everyone with hand shakes/hugs great seeing people again, but as always seems like yesterday i was living in Falmouth. crazy fun memories surfacing all the time.
so b this time it was like 8pm or so.. i tried looking for toms place on google maps, but it said the wrong name on the road, which seemed weird, i also tried multimap to the same result, i thought it might just be me, so i asked ann to take a look, and nope i was correct, the road names were wrong. Ann offered to drive me over, it was not far but i had bags, and was glad to take her up on the offer.
SOOO lucky, we had decided to drive over to the place google said the address was, and just as we arrived, tom was walking up the hill with his shopping bags, i shouted out to him!! he glanced and carried on walking, i shouted again, and tom then saw me.. and was surprised.. i like it when things like this happen out of the blue!!… Tom said he was just thinking about me, and dinner…
got to see toms house! pretty cool! he lived quite near to Webber hill. which is near to where i used to live! but then everywhere is pretty near in Falmouth, its that small… anyways tom cooked up some dinner and we chatted some, i then did the washing up considering that tom had cooked. i then met kitty, one of toms housemates, he lives with three other then himself…. we then went out and met up with adam and Camille for a drink, played a drawing game, that involves drawing sections of the body without knowing what the last person has drawn other then it was a head for example… the head is drawn,, then its folded over with just a few little lines showing the neck, then the next person draws the torso/arms.. then the legs.. then the feet.. so that was fun, we had four on the go..
so we drank up and headed off, deciding to go home, as it was getting late and i was tired after the days travel. Went back to toms and pretty much to sleep streight away!.
Friday
Friday was fun filled!… that morning i went to Truro with tom, well after our late awakening at about 11am or so. anyways tom drove to truro, to pick up a game that he had ordered fallout 3.. i really can not play these types of computer games as they do my head in, literally i get headaches and feel sick. but tom was excited to get his game after so many years of waiting,
we then went to TK maxx as tom wanted to check a few clothes out, he brought some interesting new white shoes, and a new yellow tie.
we then left, i filmed tom opening fallout 3, man it was so cool, he got the limited edition one, which had the figurine in it, the was a bobble head figurine. and a book of artworks.. also of course the game.. great fun!!..
so we then went back to falmouth, i watched tom play the game for quite a while, made me want to play it, but i cant, a good thing i suppose as it would eat away at my time rather easily. But wow, such a big game, pretty cool how you have to start off as a kid, and then you grow up, you grow up fast as it skips a lot of yers, but yea great really…
i did nto watch it all that long, i was munching on the biscuits i had brought and drinking juice, as eating drinking seems to keep off the headaches with games, but yea i could feel it was not doing me any good, i decided to go to mike and anns and see what was going on. chilled out with them for a while, and went online for a little bit!. then i went back to toms, we went to the cinema, and watched the new choin brothers fim—

it was soooo funny! great seeing the film in the poly again, its only got one screen and the whole decor is so very old fashioned, i love it, you feel like a guy is going to be selling popcorn at the front, but yea, that last part is just my imagination. man so good! cool when we came out of the cinema and Adam and Camilie were their waiting as they knew we were going to the cinema and had seen people walking out as they were walking past.. we all went to the waterfront for drinks, i just decided to get a water, was not feeling like drinking anything else. cool cool we got a table, chilled out, chatted, played with my camera, and yea had fun times, Cheuky turned up after about an hour or so of us being there, she was doing well, i think she had just finished work! i got this cool picture of her:
so after this we went on to the bar called Toast, had another water, and chilled out, a lot of people were in Fancy dress.. which i was annoyed about as i would have loved to have dressed up but had not money to buy anything to wear, and tom had nothing much to use to make something so i felt lame about that.. but yea i had had my halloween adventure on tuesday last week!. but still.. it was great seeing all the arty students putting so much effort into their costumes, the whole town was amazing because of it!.
more pictures taken fun times had… after this i phoned up amos to see what was going on for the rest of the night, though it was about 23:00, it was cool, as they were about to go to a party that they heard was going on so said that i should go to moles house, i had not seen it before, they had moved in only a month or so ago, but it was cool as they were only 2 doors from where i used to live!. and man their house was massive for hour of them!! SOO COOL!..
i arrived and it was amos and mole, they were in the kitchen, and said that a party was going on and they were just waiting on a phone call from dave, me, tom, amos and mole, got a taxi to the party that was only across town, and man it was CRAZY!… like crazy numbers of people!! i had never seen a party so full, ok i might have nearly seen one so full. but gee this one was the talk of the small town and every student/ex student was heading there!…. crazy!.. we were there for a few hours,, i met andy on the way in, he was surprised to see me, and also to see that i was not in some crazy cool costume,, i said he i know!! LAME!!.. be he gave me some fun plastic glasses frames to wear.. so all was good!.
went in.. could hardly move but that was kind of fun!.. i do not know how the girls walked around in some of the skimpy costumes they did on such a cold night!! but i was not complaining, just in wonder about it..
we stayed at the part for about 2 hours in the end!.. not all that long!. we left as amos had ordered a taxi back to moles… whilst waiting for the taxi tom bumped into his housemates, so he went with them and me amos and mole went back… SOO GLAD I DID!.. as we got back to moles, and they cooked up the most amazing bacon sandwich of all time!
after the bacon sandwich we had a cup of tea.. chilled out, then mole showed me the front room, and i slept on the sofa that night!. quite warm with the sleeping bag! it was all good!.
i woke up the next morning and was not able to get out of bed, because it was wayyyyyyy to cold, Amos popped his head around the door to see if i was awake yet, as i was he asked if i wanted a cup of tea!! ha cant ever turn down a cup of tea in the morning!!.. well it was like 11am again!.. chilled out with amos chatted a bit, then decided to leave and went to toms, said to amos that i would be over at mike and anns soon!… chilled out at toms, AHHH his house had lost all power as no more money would g on the electricity key as it was broken!. not a whole lot could be done about it either!. i chilled with tom a bit, and chatted a while!. i had to get going at about 7pm as i had to go to mike and anns as “all star easy stars” was the band we were going to see tonight, in the princess pravillion!! man soo cool!!! we arrived at 21:32.. just as they started playing!!..
man they are rocking!!! soo amazing! they were doing Radiohead covers and lots of different stuff, in their own style. i loved how there was so many different types of instruments and during their playing they kept having introductions and playing solos, it was so cool!. and in one part the main guy introduced the keyboardist saying big things come in small packages! we were all like??? but at the end when they took their bow! wow she was very small indeed!! she looked great!. it was a very exciting performance! the crowed really got into it!. at 22:30 it seemed as though they had just one more song left, so amos downed his pint, ready for the end!. looked like they would end it! but everyone stamped their feet and well they continued! they did then walk off stage!. but the crowed went wild!.. and they came back on! ok this is the last song we all thought, but no another 45 mins went by! the audience were loving it. then it looked like the end of sure! the lights came on, doors opened people started heading out! then the guy on guitar who everyone had thought had gone off stage and that had not sung for the whole night, started singing, and did an amazing song!!! then people were like??? then the rest of the band came on the lights went dim, and well in continued!! for another 15 mins! it was great!!! so it did end! we were all worn out!. but happy as it was amazing!. on the walk home dave told of how one old woman had grabbed him by the waist and told him to stop dancing!!! umm everyone was dancing! so that was crazy!!!..
then the rest of the night was pure party time at mike and anns! we chilled out! played around with Glyns Video camera on the projection screen, chatted played around with my digital camera, and everyone except me got pretty much drunk.. as i do not drink much if at all. we ended up leaving at around 7am… it was light had had a freezing cold walk back to sophie and moles which is where i was staying the night!. i slept on the sofa again!. i this i woke up at around 14:17 and chilled out ben poked his head around the door, and asked if i wanted a cup of tea! i chatted with him a while about his amazing fish sculpture things, and also we talked of our travels!. which was cool, i always enjoy hearing talk about their travels, and ask me questions about my own!.
after the tea and chat, i went to toms, chilled out at his house! played card games, Shithead then 40 games of 21 pontoon (blackjack).. tom won 21 games of pontoon and i won 19.. the lucky bastard, it all came down on that to me not twisting and loosing.. we played on to see if i would have won! and i would have!! GRRRR… i was loosing 11-1 at one point and tom was saying he was going to win 20-1 but man i managed to pull it back!!!
we then played monopoly via candle light as no power still and was heating the house with just candles, but that seemed warm enough!
Monopoly went well for me, i could not see it ever ending as tom was buying all the properties up! but i had three stations and was getting some good money from him! rent!…. also i managed to get park lane/mayfair the most expensive places!…. he by that point managed to own the whole of the next road except the train station.. but lucky for me i put some houses on park lane/mayfair which he landed on and had not enough money to give me so i said just to give me the brown old kent road houses, and £400 so he did that i used the money to put hotels on the properties so had a dangerous corner for him!!! anyways i managed to by the end own everything and build hotels all around.. i did get a chance card that ordered me to pay out on repairs on all hotels houses which came to £700 but MEH! i only just had enough due to spending soo much on hotels! but i had enough !! all went well! and i won!
that finished around 23:45.. at which point i went to mike and anns, as it was an early rise!!! leaving fally town the next morning!… i got to mike and anns they were watching tv… so i watched it with them a little bit, but also went online… on my laptop.. everyone pretty much went to bet.. amos came across a Darren Brown stage performance show!! man it was cool! i still have not finished the book of his i brought last year! i must do that!! he is amazing! and i like that he says he is not doing magic, its all tricks,, tricks of the mind!! and memory!.. so that was cool! but we did not turn that off till 02:24.. i slept up in the spare room, as amos had the front room! i was annoyed as i had remembered i said i would phone a friend earlier that day but got distracted! so i set my phone for 08:30am.. lucky for me i woke up at 08:00am so decided to ring him then and we met in the moor by the bus stops at 08:30am.. not seen jacque in ages it seems, he had been i america all summer, so was good to see him.. annoyingly we never got to play golf as i never contacted him to arrange to meet up at 7am in the morning, so we could sneak onto the ghetto crazy golf corse as usual!. with out putters and balls that we got from Trego Mills. bah! oh well i looked for somewhere to have breakfast! jacque was not hungry so did not eat! i went into a pasty shop, and had a large traditional cornish pasty to eat in, with a pot of tea!. that was nice!!!!!!! so we chatted for an hour or so.. then i had to get going! went back to toms, as my stuff was at his place! said byes. then i went to Adams house (my old house and housemate) i picked up my guardian linocut and prints left with him as he had to go to a meeting at college.. haha i remember them well!.. i diverted from him to mike and anns house… chilled with amos. then left! man i was carrying crazy amount of stuff! lucky for me. amos helped at times. we got to travel all the way to plymouth together so that was cool. then it was like a 4 hour train journey to Reading! that went smooth.. so.. yea it was all good!!! I PRetty good trip….
i want to blog about my trip this weekend to Falmouth! as i had crazy fun!. and i got lots of pictures that might as well get used for something!.
But not enough time at the moment, it will probably be tomorrow night. i have written most of it.. i did that on the train home.. but yea, as im in the mood for working on my Paris Map, im doing that,, im working out some things for the metro at the moment, and leaving the Roads for a little while!. as i was getting annoyed with the Road typography… so yea ahhh soo many metro stations, i will not be able to include them all of course, but a fare few! as they really give the map an interesting look… typography wise!.
I have i think decided on 180cm X 150cm in size!. i can change it/. as its design stage.. i like the idea of doing it this size!. i was Originally thinking of 180cm X 180cm as i liked the idea of square.. and that size!. which is why the size is not set in stone yet! i have the decide soon though as having it square will change the design and were im going to do in paris! quite a bit!.
Its hard when you start working in such a big size to print when its done, but im not going to care about that! i like this size, it means i can put much more detail into the map!. i have been learning a lot more about carving, and can also carve a smaller PT size to what i used to be able to do. its been over a year since i did my amsterdam map, so i have really looking forward to carving the Map! but the design will not be done for a few weeks yet!.

i will be contacting all the people who have asked me if they would like one! soon… the size of the map has caused me a great deal of annoyance, as printing in large format with linoleum is not the norm, but i have a place that is printing them, but slowly, as they take a lot of works.. which is why i will only have 20 by i think the end of next week!. i will be putting a paypal cart on my site when i have them, and then people can buy them… i hope to then over the next 2 months release the london and New York prints, which also take time to print due to being two colours. i hate that its taking so long, but thats the way it is! any ideas on getting things done faster would be greatly appreciated.
also i am printing my APW gallery works tomorrow.. ready to send on thursday! i have left it late due to the weekend but i will have enough time left for it to arrive there by the 11th so thats all good!.
